for Sheldon Harnick
On May 2, 2004, Encompass New Opera Theatre hosted a gala
honoring Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick on his 80th
birthday at the National Arts Club. Stephen Sondheim
was the honorary Gala Chair, Carolyn
Peterson and Jean Telljohann, co-chairs. Featured guests
and performers at the event included Alan Alda, Harolyn
Blackwell, Glenn Close, Barbara
Cook, Randy Graff, Jeffrey Lyons, Alfred Molina, Charlotte
Rae, K.T. Sullivan, Marlo Thomas, Jack Beeson, Phil Donahue,
Celeste Holm, Joe
Stein, Edward Thomas, Shari Upbin, and Encompass Artists
