A FLORENTINE TALE

Un Racconto Fiorentino is a traditional opera for the 21st Century, based on a story by Giovanni Boccaccio, with music and libretto by American composer Louis Gioia; orchestrations by Glen Cortese. The Concert staging (over 100 on stage) was conducted by John Yaffé, directed by Nancy Rhodes, and starred Ravil Atlas, tenor; Elizabeth Blancke-Biggs, soprano; William Fleck, bass-baritone; Richard Lewis, baritone; Christina Giannini, costumes; Mara Waldman and Christopher Fecteau, musical preparation; Charles Townsend Wittreich, Jr. sets/props; Kathleen Swanson dancer/choreographer. “Led by maestro John Yaffé the forces on the Tully Hall stage performed with transcendent concentration exemplary preparation, freedom and commitment.”
